I've told this story like a hundred times- everybody back home wants to know how everything is and how i'm doing (which is really nice, don't get me wrong) but what eventually happens is that i'm fed up about telling how i am over and over again. i feel like a robot just saying this.
long story short for the five hundredth time- we arrived about three and a half weeks ago. meanwhile, not knowing many people we've been spending our time going around the city and getting to know all the cool places. now Chicago is one of the most amazing places i've been to. (oh, i think one of my parents just woke up and are about to tell me off that i'm still awake... :O) anyway- this is such a lively city! i mean, all the Americans are so nicee and there are so many places to visit! just walking around our small little area, there are sooo many restaurants and diners and places to eat from all around the world. there are amazing shopping stores and shops, that's like the one thing all Americans are addicted to- buying, and especially on sale! outside our front window there's Michigan lake and its so beautiful! right now its still sunny and warm, so many people like to run and cycle along the shoreline where there's an amazing trail in a park-like area. I've already gone running there a couple of times all ready. and from all the food that I've been eating here, i must say that its a must! there is so much american junk food, seriously, its really hard to get a decent meal around here that doesn't involve chips, a chunk of cheese, extra large coke, a ton of ranch or any other fattening things. seriously, that's all i do these days, eat and eat and eat. okay, enough of that.
there are also a lot of festivals and special events taking place here. just to start with all the music festivals, its amazing! seriously, there was the lollapalooza just a couple of days after we arrived here which was a three day festival with world wide known artists performing like RHCP.. and after the festival Coldplay had a show here and also there are a couple of Israeli artists coming to perform. Tomorrow, or more likely today, Asaf Avidan and his group are coming to perform and i have tickets! its going to be soo good, especially cause I've already seen him on show once. but this is still going to be something... and then David Brozack the famous jazz player is going to be here. At the end of august there's actually a jazz festival which is going to take place in the millenium park. i don't know many of the artists but there is one show that I'm really looking forward to- which is a show in memory of Ella Fitzgerald. i love her singing- she has such an amazing voice! and i especially love her singing duets with Louis Armstrong. Speaking of him, he has an amazing cover for the song "what a wonderful world" i think its called, which is a song that i've listened to a lot since coming here, a cover by Israel Kawaaokoalsterkvoeirvo'ole or whatever he's called, to this song together with somewhere over the rainbow.
other events we've been to is the Northalsted market which was LGBT event. we put up an Israeli stand telling people about how lovely Israel is and its gay population. i was surprised how many people were interested... i also went to a really awesome fair- called the Renaissance Fair which actually took place in Milwaukee. it was about an hours drive and i went whith some friends from dad's office. it was themed from the medieval times and there were people walking around in costumes from the age, there were shows and shops and foods from that period. most of the women who dressed up were really slutty, most of them wearing huge corsages and all the boobs pouring out. it was really disgusting. and ugly. and then, we saw a really fun show, called "The Mud Show". it was so funny! it really didn't have a point, except there were two sides and they each had to duel each other in order to show which was the "better side". so that was where the crowd was involved and we had to do singing and applauding and cheering really loud. the "actors" or the presenters or whatever you want to call them at one point just jumped into the mud and pushed their faces in first and then went for the audience, kissing a couple of people. it was really funny, i'll post pictures once i get them (i took them on the other guys phone cause silly me didn't have a camera and i'm still working on getting my new iphone! i am so waiting for it, right now i have non).
other than that there was a little bit of dueling knights in shining armer, fire whips and some great rides including a carousel, pony rides, archery and others... i came home with a candle souvenier for mum and an ink bottle, which just called out my name.
also, we went to the water and air show, took the architectural tour on the river, went up to the John Hancock observatory, saw a couple of movies, went to the zoo, watched quite a few movies already, went to a wedding, etc, etc, etc... oh- and to the Art Institute museum which was really good- we got to see the Roi Lichtenstein gallery. it was AWESOME!
and then most of the time at home, i've become addicted to a new television program- FRIENDS!! its soo funny, it can really help my mood and i just love it! it seriously makes me laugh. Out Loud.
and apart from sitting a lot on facebook and skype, i've also made a Derp Doll.
